OAU NASU CALLS OFF STRIKE
The Non Academic Staff Union (NASU), Obafemi Awolowo University Ile Ife chapter has decided to call off her current industrial action yesterday due to the compliance of the school management to pay the agitated allowance.
The information was announced by the chairman of NASU Com. Odewunmi who stated that the mangement has promised to pay what they called the palliative but not hazard allowance. According to Odewunmi “they promise to pay a substantial amount but failed to state the actual amount to be paid”. He added that the decision to suspend the demonstration was actuated by prompt intervention of notable individuals like the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade.
He noted that though they have resolved to suspend the strike but tomorrow has been declared for members to rest, while they will resume proper on Friday. The student union also release a broadcast message to this effect on social media. It was stated in the post that NASU has suspended the current strike.
With this suspension of industrial actions, academic activities are expected to commence on campus in full fledge.
