Happening now: OAU students protest state of education in Nigeria
Students of Obafemi Awolowo University are on the streets of Ibadan, protesting the dwindling educational system in Nigeria as the country celebrates its 55th Independence anniversary.
The students gathered at Iwo Road Ibadan and are marching to the Oyo State Government House, Agodi, Ibadan reports Citizen Lukmon Fasasi.
President of the students union, Omotayo Akande, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to implement the 26% education budget as recommended by UNESCO in Nigeria.
“The dwindling educational system in Nigeria is alarming and our Educational facilities is becoming rotten daily, we say no to this and beg for the Federal government to inculcate the 26% Educational budget instead of the 8%”.
