The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has said that he will wade into the the current crisis between the management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife and the Students’ Union of the institution with a view to resolving it.

The management of OAU, through a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr. Abiodun Olanrewaju, had shut down the university indefinitely and also suspended the activities of the Students’ Union as a result of a protest by the students over allegations of poor living condition in their hostels.
The students’ Union leaders presented a letter to the Ooni when he visited the school for the football match listing their demands.
Addressing a press conference on the 41st convocation of the university, the OAU Vice Chancellor, Professor Bamitale Omole declined comment on the crisis as he refused to answer questions relating to the shutdown of the university, insisting that he would only talk on the convocation.
